Africa Day

For 2008 Syrcas Circus, Wcwbwcws and Cyffro Caernarfon are working with Gwyl Caernarfon Festival to create a vibrant live performing arts event celebrating summer.

The theme of the project is “Africa” and will explore cultural influences and connections with the continent, through music, dance, circus textile design and costume. participants will be encouraged to develop physical skills and expression, rhythm and movement, print making design techniques, celebratory costume and mask, facilitated by professional artists.

The project will take place in two main areas, caernarfon and talysarn.
it will consist of an intensive programme of workshops during the week of caernarfon festival, where it will provide a key focus for events.

During the festival week ( 19- 24 july) the project will offer community workshops and develop performances, open public workshops and performances by community participants on friday 25th july on the maes and around town the project offers the opportunity to bring many different people together to enjoy themselves in a high profle community event at the heart of the town.
